SLR Canada is looking for a full-time Intermediate Ecologist to be based in our Calgary office. Additional locations in Alberta will be considered for the right candidate. Responsibilities
Lead and/or support monitoring programs, environmental assessments, and permitting related to aquatic and terrestrial ecosystem components. Field work including environmental sampling and assessments: some local, and some remote requiring travel for up to two weeks or more at a time. Environmental data entry, management, and analysis, and report writing.Qualifications
Bachelor of Science Degree in ecology, biology, environmental science, or a related field. Experience in wetland identification, delineation, and classification in accordance with the 2015 Alberta Wetland Classification System. Vegetation identification experience is considered an asset. Membership (or eligible for membership) as a P.Biol.Familiarity with field sampling and assessment methods. Knowledge of AB, SK, MB species and ecosystems. Availability and flexibility to travel for fieldwork. Wilderness/backcountry experience; comfortable working in a remote field environment. Proficiency with MS Word and Excel, managing large datasets, and conducting analyses using R or other statistical software.Valid Class 5 Driver’s License in Alberta (or equivalent) with a clean driving record.
