Surrey). Services include in-person/virtual, individual and group counselling. Pre-booked appointments are also available with Mental Health Nurses, a registered nurse, and doctors. About the Role Being the first point of contact, this position has one of the most important functions in supporting students with accessing Health & Counselling Services (HCS). As a member of the MOA team offers the best customer experience through an empathetic and compassionate response to the needs and circumstances of students and connects them to services at HCS. Ensures front-line operations are upheld at a high level of effectiveness and efficiency and provides support services to HCS clinical staff. The Medical Office Assistant has completed the MOA certificate program. The role requires strong customer
service, empathy, communication, teamwork, organization, confidentiality, and ability to support vulnerable clients in a fast-paced clinic. Intermediate skills in Word, Excel, databases, EHRs, billing, and keyboarding are needed, along with knowledge of medical terminology, screening, infection control, and basic clinical procedures. Must obtain CPR/First Aid and Mental Health First Aid within required timelines and work flexibly across HCS sites. Qualifications High school graduation plus one year of post-secondary education, MOA certificate, or equivalent. Two years of related experience as a Medical Office Assistant, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong customer service, empathy, compassion, and calm communication skills. Ability to work respectfully with vulnerable populations. Positive, reliable, team-oriented, and self-motivated. Strong organization, prioritization, multitasking, and attention to detail. Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, databases, and electronic health record systems. Knowledge of medical terminology, clinic procedures, infection control, and MSP billing. Ability to perform basic clinical tasks and maintain confidentiality. Willingness to obtain required CPR, First Aid, and Mental Health First Aid certifications.
