Superintendent, Calgary

Our client is a highly regarded commercial general contractor specializing in commercial construction projects across Western Canada. With a reputation for operational excellence, strong safety culture, and consistent delivery, they are seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead day-to-day site operations.

This role is ideal for a hands-on construction leader who excels in field coordination, schedule execution, and subcontractor management, and who takes pride in delivering clean, safe, and well-organized job sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead on-site construction activities from mobilization through project closeout
• Develop, manage, and maintain detailed project schedules and short-interval plans
• Coordinate and direct subcontractors, suppliers, and site personnel to ensure efficient workflow
• Enforce site safety standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements
• Conduct daily site inspections to ensure quality, workmanship, and compliance with drawings and specifications
• Collaborate closely with the Project Manager on schedule, cost, sequencing, and risk management
• Chair subcontractor coordination meetings and daily toolbox talks
• Monitor site progress and proactively resolve constructability and sequencing issues
• Maintain accurate site documentation, including daily logs, inspections, and deficiency tracking
• Lead project closeout, including deficiencies, turnover documentation, and final inspections

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as a Superintendent (or Assistant Superintendent with senior-level responsibilities) in commercial construction
• Proven experience delivering new and/or tenant improvement projects (retail, office, multifamily, healthcare, etc)
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, and field coordination
• In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and schedules
• Strong leadership presence with the ability to manage multiple trades and personalities on site
