Production Supervisor (Calgary)

VPC Group Inc. Comfort Division, Calgary Bed in Box (CBB) produces a full range of foam designed specifically for the bedding industry, including conventional, super soft, Viscoelastic and gel foam. Our quilting rolls are produced using “Loop Slitting”, today’s most efficient process. In addition to a full assortment of rolls, toppers, and rail products, we provide preassembled foam encased units, zoned toppers, polyester fiber, and latex. With our countrywide facilities, we can efficiently service both national bedding programs and area-focused customer bases. VPC Comfort Division is looking for a dynamic Production Supervisor (Afternoon Shift) to engage our people, delight our customers, and consistently achieve or exceed business expectations in Calgary, Alberta. Responsibilities - Ensure Health and Safety is a precondition of all that is done. - Provide excellent service to customers, including On-Time-Delivery, as expected quality, and exceptional responsiveness requests. - Manage a production team of hourly direct reports. Provide coaching and guidance in a unionized environment. - Set and meet/exceed daily production targets. - Engage employees in building a culture based on respect, teamwork and accomplishment. - Lead daily shift meetings with team members; set a positive tone for each day. - Hold people accountable for their safety, time / attendance, and quality. - Monitor throughput hourly and report abnormalities. - Support maintenance team when required to ensure minimal downtime by demonstrating an engineering mindset in identifying issues for manufacturing and assembly. - Support Plant Manager in determining areas for improvement. - Implement and maintain 5S and Lean manufacturing initiatives and efforts. Requirements - Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Engineering or Business Management. - Minimum 3-5 years leadership experience in a unionized manufacturing environment a must. - Experience with Lean manufacturing principles a must. - Must be able to work afternoon shift. - Solid interpersonal skills; experience supervising in a unionized environment an asset. - Ability to confidently and independently make difficult decisions. - Strong computer / system skills (MS Office, ADP Workforce Now).
