Controller (Casselman)

Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Controller to oversee our organization’s financial operations for multiple companies. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. The Controller will report directly to the President. Responsibilities - Manage all accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities. - Prepare and analyze financial statements, reports, and budgets to support decision‑making processes. - Oversee account reconciliation and account analysis to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data. - Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations. - Work directly with accounting firms, lawyers, banks, insurance companies and government agencies located in both Ontario and Quebec. - Lead budgeting processes, monitor financial performance against budgets, and recommend improvements. - Supervise and manage accounting and human resource team members. - Stay current with industry best practices and regulatory changes affecting financial management. Qualifications - 5 to 7 years experience as a Controller or similar senior accounting role. - Extensive knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and standards. - Knowledge of accounting software Sage 50 and Sage 100 and Excel. - Robust skills in account reconciliation, account analysis, and financial reporting. - Experience managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and budgeting processes. - Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy. - Ability to lead a team effectively while managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines. - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA or CMA certification preferred. - Robust written and verbal skills in English. - Moderate written and verbal skills in French. - Experience in Construction, Rental Properties and Agriculture would be an asset.
