Structural Steel Engineer/Designer (Edmonton)

The Role We're a design-build general contractor that designs, fabricates, and erects our own proprietary steel building system, all in-house, all in Edmonton. We're looking for a structural engineer who can lead the complete structural design process: from concept and analysis through fabrication coordination and field support. This is not a narrow calculations role. You'll own the structural package: primary steel, trusses, cold-formed framing, connections, foundations, and slab. You'll work directly alongside our drafting, fabrication, and construction teams to see your designs built. What You'll Do - Produce preliminary steel estimates to support project budgeting and quoting - Partner with Project Managers and Sales to develop buildings from concept through to completed construction - Lead structural design for pre-engineered and conventional steel buildings - Design steel trusses, cold-formed purlins and girts, and primary framing systems - Complete connection design, detailing, and foundation design (piles, grade beams, slab-on-grade) - Coordinate with drafting, fabrication, and field teams throughout each project - Prepare and review permit packages, shop drawings, and erection drawings - Provide construction support during fabrication and erection - Attend project meetings and site visits as required What You Bring - Proven experience with steel truss design and pre-engineered metal buildings - Strong command of cold-formed steel, connection design, and foundation systems - Ability to produce efficient, buildable designs, not over-engineered ones - Understanding of complete building packages from design through erection - Solid knowledge of applicable Canadian codes and structural standards - P.Eng. in Alberta (or eligibility to obtain) - Valid driver's licence; able to travel within Alberta - Clear communicator who thrives in a small, accountable team Software assets: AutoCAD, Advance Steel, structural modelling and design software, fabrication and erection drawing tools.
