Description
Mechanical Design Engineer (Manufacturing Industry) / Marsiling Road! Performs under the general direction of the Engineering department head. Design mechanical assemblies, drawings generation and manufacturing processes. Evaluates and resolves technical problems during manufacturing and testing. Turning research ideas into technical plans using computer aided design (CAD) and computer modelling programs.

Work with Customers and US counterparts on new bellow assembly design as well as their applications.

Study and analyze customer design requirement, specifications, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and tooling/equipment requirements.

To design new products using 3D CAD and perform FEA modelling. Design jig & fixture for new product whenever necessary.

To define the manufacturing processes for new product and create the shop floor router accordingly.

To check the drawings accuracy and release for prototype development and mass production.

Focus person of NPI activities, to co-ordinate and follow through FAI build to identify potential issues and take preventive actions accordingly.

To setup Bill of Material and routing for new part numbers in ERP system.

Perform product validation according to the product design specification and customer requirements.

Work with vendors to fabricate and test functional prototypes of new products, component changes and design improvements.

Focus person to liaise with customer for Engineering Change, raises ECN and co-ordinate with internal personnel to ensure smooth implementation.

Participate in CIP and Kaizen projects to implement improvement to production.

Participate in cost reduction activities by evaluating design simplification, alternate materials and change of supplier.

Develop alternate designs and processes to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications and necessity of modification.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Manufacturing or related technical discipline required.

Minimum 4 years of working experience in mechanical product design with jig & fixture design exposure. Worked in manufacturing workplace.

Proficiency in Solidworks 3D modelling and AutoCad.

Knowledge in Finite Element Analyze is necessary.

Familiar with machining and stamping parts fabrication processes.

Welding experience with GTAW & PAW Processes preferred and a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) holder is an added advantage.
