We are seeking a dedicated and organized Medical Office Assistant / Ophthalmic Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care, manage front desk operations, and support clinical staff to ensure smooth daily operations. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic medical environment, including specialties such as optical care and utilizing electronic medical records systems. The position requires a professional with strong communication skills and a passion for patient-centered service.Responsibilities and Duties (Other responsibilities may be assigned or removed, as deemed necessary by Supervisor and Clinic Manager)

Operate ophthalmic equipment for patient’s eye examination. Prepare patients for examinations and surgeries. Obtain and record patient medical history. Measure and record visual acuity and color vision testing. Perform lensometry and other testing as directed by Ophthalmologist. Perform special ophthalmic tests for patients as requested by Ophthalmologist.Assist Ophthalmologists during examination and surgeries. Advise patients on ocular medications, dressings and contact lenses. Instill anesthetic drops and assist in laser treatments and minor procedures. Clean, sterilize and maintain surgical instruments. Maintain the examination room clean, safe and organized.Explain pre- and post-operative procedures to patients. Review surgical plan and patient chart and prepare patient paperwork accurately. Provide clerical and administrative assistance when needed. Ensuring that all phone calls, emails and other forms of communication, queries and concerns are answered and re‑directed as necessary.Facilitate communications between patients and health care professionals. Prioritizing and completing tasks according to urgency. Assist physicians and Opticians with varying tasks such as, but not limited to, performing pre‑testing, pre‑screening. Assign patients to Exam rooms. Transcribe and process physician orders.Review and process incoming faxes and other documentation related to referrals, recalls and consultations. Appropriately access and review patient reports and results; patient filing methods and record keeping. Transfer and or update patient files as needed. Complete forms and documentation related to specimens, tests, etc.Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Complete patient registration, appointment bookings, re‑bookings, cancellations and necessary. Assist and prepare exam rooms. Cleaning duties as necessary. Other duties as required. Requirements

Assets: MOA Experience or Certification, HealthQuest Knowledge&required Certification. Knowledge of Medical terminology. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and ability to learn new software&applications. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills,&critical thinking skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team and face paced environment. Effective multi‑tasking, time management and organization skills with attention to detail. Demonstrated commitment to providing focused patient care. Clear criminal record check / child welfare and intervention check.Valid First Aid and CPR certifications (Basic Cardiac Life Support). This role is ideal for individuals passionate about healthcare administration and providing excellent patient experiences.
