Private Caregiver (Edmonton)

Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Caregiver to provide personalized care to clients in their homes. The ideal candidate will have experience in senior care, especially having several years of dementia experience, and be skilled in various caregiving tasks. This role is essential in ensuring the comfort, safety, and well-being of our clients, particularly those with specific needs such as dementia and mobility issues. Punjabi/Hindi speaking would be a outstanding asset for this role. Duties - Provide assistance with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation. - Administer medications as prescribed and monitor clients for any side effects or changes in condition. - Offer companionship and emotional support to enhance the quality of life for clients. - Assist with mobility and transfers, including heavy lifting when necessary. - Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients by performing light housekeeping tasks. - Document care provided and report any changes in client health or behavior to family members or healthcare professionals. - Support clients with dementia care by employing effective communication techniques and engaging them in meaningful activities. - Collaborate with other healthcare providers involved in the client's care plan. Skills - Proven experience in caregiving, particularly in senior care settings such as assisted living or nursing homes. - Knowledge of medication administration protocols and safety practices. - Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and effectively when assisting clients with mobility challenges. - Ability to use behavioural intervention techniques, re-approaching and re-directing, ability to remain calm during a behavioural episode (non-violent) - Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients and their families. - Experience with hospice care is a plus, demonstrating sensitivity to end-of-life issues. - Excellent cleaning skills to maintain a hygienic living space for clients. - Familiarity with patient care techniques tailored to individual needs, especially for those suffering from dementia.
