Senior Accountant (Edmonton)

We're partnering with an established organization in SE Edmonton to hire a Senior Accountant. This role is a 3 month contract starting immediately with potential for permanency. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys owning the month-end process, working closely with leadership, and contributing to a stable, focused accounting team. This position is fully in office in SE Edmonton. What You'll Do - Own and execute the month-end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation - Perform detailed variance analysis and provide insights to leadership - Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports - Support year-end audit processes, working closely with external auditors - Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities - Manage fixed assets and intercompany transactions - Contribute to cost accounting and manufacturing variance analysis - Partner with operations to understand business drivers and provide financial guidance - Identify opportunities to improve processes and drive efficiencies What You Bring - CPA designation (or actively pursuing with solid progress) - Strong experience in full-cycle accounting and financial reporting - Hands-on experience with month-end, audit, and variance analysis - Experience in manufacturing, energy, or industrial environments - Proficiency with SAP or similar ERP systems - Strong analytical mindset with the ability to connect financial results to operations - Clear communicator who can work effectively with both finance and non-finance teams At Aplin - together with our brands CompuStaff, Impact Recruitment, and Vantix Systems - we connect great people with great organizations across North America.
