#Dating is completely free. Our mission is to create the freedom for people to date their own way. Do you think we should charge you for that? Nope, we don’t either.

How does #Dating work?
To start using #Dating, log in to your #Dating profile. Then start swiping to find exciting matches:
- Swipe right to “like” someone. If they like you back, it’s a match!
- You’ll be able to start chatting with someone once you have matched with them.
- Add unique hashtags to your profile to describe yourself.
- Use the filter icon to select any unique hashtags you are seeking in a partner.
- Play fun games like Photo Duel to see more people, answer fun questions and see if your profile photos are making a good impression!
- Match, chat, flirt and have fun online with people who like what you like.
What are the hashtags (#) for?
Our hashtags are designed to help you find better matches:
- Use hashtags to describe yourself. This shows your matches what you’re interested in and helps you get discovered by others more easily.
- Hashtags can also be used to filter your search based on the qualities you may be looking for in a match.
How do I add hashtags to my profile?
Hashtags show your matches what you’re interested in. To add hashtags that describe yourself and appear in your profile:
- Go to the Profile page.
- Tap on “Edit profile”.
- Tap on “My hashtags” to see your current hashtags and select or search for new hashtags:
- The hashtags that you’ve selected will appear highlighted in red and be shown in the “My hashtags” section.
- Select a hashtag by tapping on it and tap on it again to remove it.
- You can choose up to 10 hashtags. - When you’re finished, tap the check mark ✓ on the top right corner.
How can I search by hashtag?
Hashtags can be used to filter your search. To select hashtags you’re looking for in potential matches:
- Go to the Match page.
- Tap on the filter icon.
- Tap “Select” to the right of “I’m looking for”.

How can I view my profile the way others see it?
To view your profile the way others see it, go to the Profile page and tap on your profile photo. This brings you to the “Profile preview” page and shows how your profile appears to others.

How can I edit my profile location, photos, hashtags and info?
To edit your profile, go to the Profile page and tap on “Edit profile”. From here, you’ll be able to update your photos, view your dating location, change your hashtags and add details in “My Info” to help others get to know you better. Change your hashtags by tapping on the “My hashtags” section and tapping on the hashtag you want to add or remove.
How can I update my email address?
To update your email address, go to the Profile page, tap on the gear icon, then tap “Account settings”. Tap on “Change email address”, enter the new email address you would like to use, then press “Submit”.
How can I update my first name?
To update your first name, go to the Profile page, tap on the gear icon, then tap “Account settings”. Under “First name”, enter the name you would like to appear on your #Dating profile.
How can I correct my birthday?
If your birthday is incorrect, you can update that by going to the Profile page, tapping on the gear icon, then tapping “Account settings”. Tap on the birthday that is currently listed to see the date picker, choose the correct birthday, and press “Set”.
How can I update my password?
To update your password, go to the Profile page, tap on the gear icon, then tap “Account settings”. Tap on “Change password”. For security reasons, you’ll be asked to enter your existing password. Then, enter your new password and press “Change password”.
How can I make my profile visible?
To make your profile visible, you need to have at least one approved photo of yourself. Once you add this, your profile will be visible to others for swiping. For more tips, check out our photo guidelines.
How can I change or remove my photos?
You can upload up to 10 photos to your profile. You can change or delete these photos anytime by going to the Profile page. Tap on “Edit profile” and then on the profile photo you want to edit, select “Edit”. If you want to remove that photo, select “Delete”.
Note: You can only delete your photo as long as you have at least one other photo. Otherwise, your profile will no longer be visible to other users. To make your profile visible once again, upload a photo of yourself.

Why wasn’t my picture accepted?
If your photo was not accepted by our system, it is most likely because the size of the photo you were trying to upload was too small or too large, or because the photo doesn’t meet our guidelines for #Dating.

Can I choose the location I want to search in?
At the moment, searching by location is not possible. Matches are created based on your device’s GPS location. But you can adjust the range of profiles you want to see:

My age is wrong. How can I change this?
To update your age, go to your #Dating profile page, tap on the gear icon, then tap “Account settings”. Tap on the birthday that is currently listed to see the date picker, choose the correct birthday, and press “Set”. The age listed on your #Dating profile will automatically update.
My location is wrong. How can I change this?
If your location is listed incorrectly, you can manually update it:
Quick tip: If this doesn’t work, try deleting your browser cache and history. When you refresh the location, you should see the right location. You can also try deleting the app and reinstalling it. Just be sure to give #Dating permission to use your location when prompted.
If that still doesn’t fix it, send a screenshot to our customer support team and let them know:
- Go to the Profile page.

- Tap on “My dating location”.
- This shows you which location your profile is currently using. To update this, press “Refresh location”.

How do I unsubscribe from pushes and emails?
To deactivate push notifications, go to the Profile page, tap on the gear icon, then tap “Account settings” and you’ll see a slider button under “Messages, matches & more”. Tapping on it will slide it to the left from green (on) to white (off).
To deactivate our #Dating newsletters, click on the “unsubscribe” link on the footer of each email.
You can also deactivate your participation in “Photo Duel” from the gear icon on the top right corner of the Play Page. This way you’ll stop receiving all summaries about your stats or invitations for new games.
You will still get emails that let you know about relevant information for your account, like when you need to reset your password or when you get a new message or match. We’re working on giving you even more options for personalising this. Stay tuned!

How can I deactivate and reactivate my profile?
You can deactivate your profile anytime to hide it from others. Your profile will no longer be shown, but you can still chat with your existing matches. You can return to your profile and reactivate it at any time.

How can I delete my profile?
To permanently delete your profile:

- You can choose to deactivate your profile instead, which will hide your profile from others and allow you to come back anytime. To delete your profile, press “Skip” at the bottom.
- Choose the reason you want to delete your profile. Then press “Delete profile”.
Why can’t I upload a picture?
If you aren't able to upload a picture, it might be because your photo doesn't meet our size guidelines, a web file saved on your browser needs to be cleared from the cache or because your device is out of storage.

What can other users see about me?
Others will only be able to see what you’ve added to your profile, like:

Matching and chatting
What is a match and how do I get them?
A match is someone you swiped right on, who also swiped right on you, showing that you have similar preferences and interests! Getting a match on #Dating means you can start chatting, sending photos, and finding out if your match is right for you.
When you’re on the Match page and you like what you see, swipe right! You will only be able to see who liked your profile when you have a match. Otherwise, it’ll stay a mystery! You get a match when a user you swipe right on also swipes right. If you haven’t received any matches yet, don’t give up! Just keep swiping and liking profiles and you will get a match. Have fun swiping!
When you’re on the Match page and you like what you see, swipe right! You will only be able to see who liked your profile when you have a match. Otherwise, it’ll stay a mystery! How can I chat with someone?
You can’t chat with someone until you’ve matched with them.
Once that happens, they’ll automatically be added to your list of chats! You’ll know there’s a new match when a red dot appears on the message icon. We’ll also send you a message if you’ve activated push or email notifications. In your chat, you can send messages and pictures. You can also use the three vertical dots to view a user’s profile again.
If you’d like to chat with someone before you’ve matched with them, you can send message requests with Wows.

- One gray check mark means the message was sent

You will only be able to see who liked your profile when you have a match. Otherwise, it’ll stay a mystery!

How can I “unmatch” with someone?
You can unmatch with someone by opening your chat with that user and tapping on the 3 vertical dots beside the reply field and tap “Unmatch”. This will remove them from your chat list, and you’ll be removed from theirs. This action can’t be undone.
Can I undo a swipe or see the profiles I swiped left or right on?
With the free version of #Dating, it’s not possible to undo a swipe or to see the profiles you’ve swiped right or left on, so be sure to make every swipe count!

What does the red dot mean?
The red dot means you’ve got a new match and messaging has been unlocked with one or more matches. Congratulations! The red dot also appears when you get new messages from existing matches. If you have a new match but haven’t begun chatting yet, the red dot will stay until the first message has been sent as a friendly reminder.
How can I delete a chat?
To delete a chat, you have to unmatch with someone. You can do this by opening your chat with that user and tapping on the 3 vertical dots beside the reply field and tap “Unmatch”. This will remove them from your chat list, and you’ll be removed from theirs. This action can’t be undone.
Why are my swipes limited?
#Dating is about enhancing your life, not filling it with meaningless moments. We hope every swipe you make will be the first step in making a meaningful connection! To encourage more thoughtful swiping, we have set limits on the number of daily swipes. Once you’ve reached the daily limit, you’ll have to wait until the next day for your available amount of swipes to reset. But don’t worry - we’ll send you a notification when you’re clear to start swiping again so you’ll never miss a match!

One or more of my matches disappeared. What can I do?
If one, or even a few, of your matches disappeared, it’s probably because that user deleted their profile or ended the match.
Deleted/blocked users
When a user deletes their profile, or becomes blocked due to inappropriate behaviour, their chat will stay in your match list for 30 days but they won’t receive any new messages. After 30 days, the chat disappears.
Expired match
When you match with someone, you have 24 hours to start chatting or the match will expire. Once the first message is sent, the other person then has 48 hours to respond. If your match expires due to inactivity in the chat (nobody sends another message after a while), you can recover it with #Dating Premium. With #Dating Premium, you’ll also have unlimited time to message your matches.
All matches have disappeared
If all of your matches have disappeared, try closing the app and opening it again, or logging out and logging in again:

Our aim is to create a space that allows all our #Daters to be their true selves. If you feel that a user is behaving suspiciously, you can let us know using the 3 vertical dots on the chat or on a profile.

If you’re just swiping profiles, scroll down until you see “Is something wrong with this profile?” and tap on “Report this profile”.

If someone has used your photo or your info in their profile, please tell us about it with as many details as possible, including:

- The user’s location and email address, if known

If a user has made you feel uncomfortable or something has happened on the app, you can report the user or send us a message letting us know what happened.

How can I keep myself safe on #Dating?
Our top priority is the safety and wellbeing of all our #Daters. Here are a few general security tips to help keep you safe, so you can have a good time meeting people on #Dating:
- Keep the chat on the app: It’s a good idea to chat with your matches directly on the app until you can be sure they’re who they say they are
- Don’t send your personal info: Don’t give out your personal info (like your email address, phone number, home address or where you work) until you can be sure they’re who they say they are

No, #Dating Premium is not linked to any premium options on Locanto. Purchasing #Dating Premium does not give you access to Locanto Premium or a Locanto Premium Account and vice versa.

How do I message someone I’m not yet matched with?
Buying Wows unlocks the ability to send message requests to people you’re not yet matched with. On the Match page, you’ll see a yellow icon with a speech bubble on it that says “Wow”. Tap on it to write and send your message request to the person you’re interested in!
That person will be notified that you want to chat and match with them. They can then accept or decline your request. If they accept, you’ll be matched and you can find them in your chat list as usual.
