Position Overview Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, this role is responsible for supporting new employee on-boarding, HR reporting and analysis, employee relations, disability claims management, performance management and ad hoc projects as they arise. This role will primarily support the Transportation division while providing assistance to other employee groups as needed.

Responsibilities
Plan and facilitate bi-weekly orientation for all new employees
Work with appropriate managers and departments to determine manpower needs and new hire training schedule, shifts etc.
Develop and add additional training content as necessary
Facilitate training sessions and assign training to employees as needed
Track various HR metrics and present to senior leadership as needed.
Review survey findings, and send to immediate supervisors for follow-up
Able to apply and analyze trends and present solutions to the business using data
Gain and maintain thorough knowledge of benefit programs to facilitate the communication of details and respond to inquiries from employees
HR point of contact for any employee relations challenges
Communicating with new hires for feedback and follow-up on orientation and training
Prevent, mediate, and resolve issues between employees.
Interpret and apply employment policies and employment legislation such as the Employment Standards Act and the Human Rights Code.
Conduct investigations pertaining to violence, harassment and/or discrimination or breach of company policies.
HRG will be required to be situated in the Transportation department minimum twice a week, Ride Alongs with Transportation and visits to depots on occasions.
Participate and support all company events and cultural initiatives
Educate and coach employees and managers on performance management processes, including establishing effective performance objectives.
Work closely with the Occupational Health Nurse on efficient case management of WSIB claims, and work with consultants to oversee the Short Term and Long Term Disability claims management for employee groups.
Maintain records of active claims and prepare statistical analysis
Provide guidance to Management on short term and long term disability practices
Develop early and safe return to work plans for employees on modified duties
Other
Human Resources projects as determined by HR Manager
Assist and support the HR Manager as required.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Excellent communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
Thorough understanding of policies and employment-related laws and regulations.
Knowledge of current trends and developments in the field
Ability to develop solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity. Refers to policies and practices for guidance.
Equipment / Tools / Technology
Knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing, presentation, email, internet and HRIS software applications.
Education&Minimum Experience Requirements
Two or more years broad HR Related experience required.
A Bachelor's Degree or relevant study program in Human Resources is required.
Note This is a frontline hybrid position based out of our Milton, Ontario facility, requiring a schedule of four (4) days in-office and one (1) day remote per week. Due to the Transportation department operating 24/7, occasional offset shifts may be required, to support operational needs.
