Overview
Our client, a well‑established company in the fireproofing and passive fire protection industry, is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee construction projects from initiation through to completion. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced construction environment and has strong experience coordinating field operations, labour forces, subcontractors, scheduling, budgeting, and client communication. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget while maintaining high‑quality standards and compliance with Ontario building and fire safety regulations.Key Responsibilities
Manage fireproofing‑related scopes of work throughout the full project lifecycle Coordinate and oversee Site Superintendents, subcontractors, and labour forces on active job sites Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and progress reporting Work closely with estimating teams, clients, consultants, inspectors, and internal stakeholdersEnsure all work complies with Ontario Building Code requirements, fire safety standards, and OHSA regulations Conduct regular site visits to monitor productivity, workmanship, safety, and schedule adherence Proactively identify and resolve project risks, delays, and scope changes Maintain project documentation including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project recordsCollaborate with procurement and estimating teams regarding materials, planning, and execution strategies Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of Project Management experience within the fireproofing or related construction industry Hands‑on knowledge of fireproofing systems including intumescent, cementitious, or spray‑applied applications Experience managing unionized labour environments and field operations Robust understanding of Ontario construction regulations, fire codes, and health&safety standards Proficiency with project management software such as Procore, MS Project, or similar platforms Excellent organizational, leadership, communication, and problem‑solving abilities Valid driver’s license with willingness to travel to project sites throughout Ontario Preferred Qualifications
PMP designation or similar project management certification considered an asset Experience working on commercial, industrial, or ICI construction projects WHMIS, Working at Heights, Gold Seal, or related certifications are considered assets Familiarity with fire protection inspections and third‑party approval processesAccessibility Statement
