Marine Technician (Orillia)

Crossroads Staffing is currently recruiting a Marine Technician for a well established local company specializing in the service, repair, and maintenance of recreational boats. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands on mechanical work, problem solving, and being part of a supportive, skilled team. Position Overview The Marine Technician will diagnose, repair, and maintain a variety of marine engines and related systems. This includes mechanical and electrical work, seasonal maintenance, and ensuring all equipment is serviced to high safety and performance standards. Key Responsibilities - Diagnose, repair, and maintain inboard, outboard, and sterndrive engines - Troubleshoot electrical, fuel, cooling, and hydraulic systems - Perform seasonal services including winterizing and spring commissioning - Install and repair marine accessories and components - Maintain accurate service records and follow company procedures - Ensure all work meets safety and quality standards - Support general shop operations, yard crew, and detailers as needed - Travel occasionally between local marine locations during the workday Qualifications - 5+ years of mechanical experience (marine, automotive, small engine, or similar) - Robust diagnostic and problem solving abilities - Ability to work independently and within a team - Comfortable in a fast paced, seasonal environment - Marine Technician or Automotive diploma considered an asset - Transferable mechanical skills welcome - Valid Driver’s Licence required - Pleasure Craft Operator Card required Compensation & Benefits - Competitive hourly wage + billable bonus pay structure - $2,000 tool allowance (prorated based on start date) - Opportunities for training and skill development - Full time, permanent employment with a reputable local company - Short 4–8 week winter layoff - Employee Assistance Program - Demo boat available at each location for shared employee use Schedule - Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Bi-weekly pay - Occasional Saturdays - Overtime required during peak season We are committed to an inclusive, barrier-free recruitment and selection process and workplace.
