Position Overview School District 71 invites applications for the following itinerant Program Worker – Food Services position. Position Details Title: Program Worker – Food Services (itinerant) Hours: 20 hours per week Pay: $28.29 per hour plus 16.3% in lieu of benefits Work locations vary and are determined by the Food Services Coordinator Qualifications Grade 12 education and valid Food Safe Level2 certification Knowledge of nutrition, health and safety standards related to food service sanitation Minimum of one year current work experience in food services Experience using basic computer programs for menu planning, communication, and administrative tasks Experience working effectively with students, staff and parents Ability to liaise with suppliers Valid Class5 B.C. driver’s licence and vehicle available for use on the job Meets the physical requirements of the position Ability to work independently and as a member of a team Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Responsibilities Perform duties under the supervision of the school principal or vice‑principal Complete program‑related administrative tasks: menu planning, documentation, and communication with parents and caregivers Establish and maintain effective relationships with students to encourage a varied diet through kitchen and garden participation Facilitate the School Food Program and activities following established procedures Ensure appropriate inventory levels of food and supplies and order and arrange delivery of necessary items from suppliers Shop in‑person at local retailers and support B.C. food production where possible Follow proper health and safety standards for food service sanitation, handling and storage Provide leadership and orientation to parent volunteers and/or student helpers to meet the same standards Offer suggestions to improve the cost effectiveness of the food services program Maintain appropriate records and ensure confidentiality of student information Observe all regulations pertinent to the work and cooperate in maintaining a healthy learning and working environment Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor and provide student supervision as required Equal Opportunity Statement School District71 welcomes diverse candidates and encourages applications from members of groups experiencing barriers to equity.
