Responsibilities Reporting to the Director of Engineering Services, the Engineering Manager will lead engineering services for domestic and international operating CANDU reactors. Manage a team of approximately 25 people, assigning and prioritizing work based on qualifications, experience, and competency. Provide technical direction and oversight to ensure deliverables meet contract requirements, client expectations, applicable nuclear codes and standards, and the company quality assurance programme. Ensure engineering activities are planned and executed in accordance with approved QA programmes, procedures and regulatory requirements. Coordinate the design interface between the Nuclear Steam Plant (NSP) and Balance of Plant (BOP) portions of the nuclear power plant. Identify, assess and manage technical issues and risks within the assigned scope, escalating as appropriate. Review and approve engineering documents and drawings in accordance with delegated authority. Set and manage team priorities to align engineering objectives with overall project goals. Establish and promote a working culture that reinforces nuclear safety, quality, knowledge sharing, innovation and respect across multidisciplinary teams. Provide performance feedback, observations and coaching to support a continuous learning culture. Support the Director of Engineering Services in defining engineering scope, deliverables, future resource needs and technical inputs for proposals and anticipated work. Support effective technical integration across disciplines and interfaces by collaborating with Engineering Services, Engineering Excellence and other project mandates. Identify emerging technical demands and capability gaps based on project execution, client direction and industry trends, and raise these to Engineering Services leadership. Develop and maintain strong technical relationships with client side counterparts and maintain informed discussions of future needs. Develop, implement and maintain tools, processes and standard practices to improve engineering efficiency, effectiveness, consistency and quality. Identify opportunities for innovation in engineering analysis methods, design approaches, workflows and digital tools. Escalate significant technical, regulatory or delivery risks to the Director of Engineering Services and the appropriate project managers. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline and registration as a Skilled Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario. 10+ years of experience in Electrical, Instrumentation and Control Design and at least 3–5 years of experience leading engineering scopes and technical teams on complex projects. 5+ years of nuclear and/or CANDU technology experience is an asset. Experience working in multidisciplinary engineering environments with significant interfaces across licensing, safety analysis, mechanical and process control disciplines. Strong knowledge of CANDU reactor design, including NSP and BOP systems; experience with safety systems, heat transport, containment, moderator and plant control systems is an asset. Working knowledge of CSA, IEC, IEEE and related standards for instrumentation. Proficiency in control system platforms such as DCS, PLC, SCADA and associated configuration and validation activities. Knowledge of instrumentation for safety systems and control/process system. Proven ability to mentor and develop engineers and designers.
