Description
The Chance Tetra Tech is adding a Senior Geotechnical Dam Safety Engineer to our Western Canada Dam Engineering team based in Calgary, AB. This role will support dam engineering and traditional geotechnical projects, including dam safety management, dam stability evaluations, investigation and instrumentation programs, design and construction monitoring, and mine site reclamation. Your Role Project management of small and medium multidisciplinary projects, including budget, schedule and quality control. Proposal and project report writing and review. Evaluating geologic conditions and geotechnical characteristics for assessment and design of shallow and deep foundations, retaining structures and earth structures. Planning and supervising geotechnical investigations. Conducting dam safety reviews and completing remediation designs. Conducting or reviewing slope stability and embankment assessments and completing designs. Conducting seismic assessments. Analyzing field data and preparing detailed engineering reports and recommendations. Communicating with clients, sub‑consultants and internal stakeholders. Supervising and reviewing construction monitoring activities for various projects. Periodic travel, including overnight stays, to project sites for field investigations, construction QA/QC activities, audits or other required activities. Collaborating as a team member and mentoring junior staff. Conducting activities in line with internal procedures, legislation and industry standards. Pursuing continuous career development and maintaining a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness. Working in a safe manner at all times and reporting all health and safety incidents and concerns. Additional duties as required. Qualifications Minimum undergraduate degree in Civil, Geotechnical, Geological Engineering or a related field. 10‑20 years of experience. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written). Knowledge of AutoCAD, GeoStudio 2007 Products and MS Office. Good time‑management skills, ability to work with minimal supervision and to contribute to projects as a team player. Travel required; must be physically capable of performing required field duties. Must possess a valid BC Class 5 driver's licence (or equivalent). Eligible for registration as an EGBC and APEGA Professional Engineer. Must be legally entitled to work in Canada without sponsorship.
