Job Overview As a Senior Guidewire PolicyCenter Developer at Aviva
Canada, you will work with globally distributed teams to plan, design, develop, test, and implement solutions. You will design, configure, and develop PolicyCenter solutions that support Aviva’s core policy lifecycle and play a key role in the Guidewire Cloud transformation. Responsibilities Build architectural diagrams and design documents. Write, configure, package, and deploy software. Perform peer code reviews. Collaborate with business partners to understand requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions. Design and implement integrations with external systems. Ensure standard methodologies are followed in code development, testing, and deployment. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members. Manage the technical aspects of Guidewire upgrades and patches. Resolve and address complex technical issues promptly. Monitor system performance and recommend improvements to enhance functionality. Required Experience and Skills Bachelor’s (or higher) degree in Computer Science, Computer
Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience. 5+ years proven experience in Guidewire PolicyCenter Development. Expertise in GOSU Language, configuration, and coding using Guidewire tools and accelerators. Experience with Guidewire Batch and predefined plugins. Experience coding RESTful APIs and in multiple programming languages such as C#, Java, Python, etc. Experience with end‑to‑end design and development of business database applications. Experience building modern web applications and designing Web APIs with REST/JSON. Agile software development experience, including use of Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Jira, Confluence. Domain knowledge in Property & Casualty Insurance. Strong expertise in PolicyCenter business rules (Underwriting, Validation, Pre‑quote/Post‑quote). Hands‑on experience configuring PolicyCenter UI and screens. Experience with Guidewire Cloud and its tools (TeamCity, Bitbucket, DataDog, Guidewire Home). Understanding of Guidewire Messaging Engine (Message Queues, Transports, Plugins). Guidewire Associate Certification. Preferred Experience and Certifications Guidewire Ace Certification (preferably PolicyCenter). Experience with Guidewire Integration or Billing Center. Exposure to Advanced Product Designer (APD) for product modeling. Experience with rating configuration: rate books, tables, algorithms, and modifiers. Experience writing automated GUnit tests for configurations using Guidewire data builders. Experience upgrading Guidewire Cloud versions and handling Assurance Reports. Relational database and SQL proficiency (MS SQL Server & Transact SQL). Benefits Salary band: $110,000 to $130,000, based on experience and qualifications.
